Males, called cocks, are very different of females, the chucks. Cocks have a bigger size, a crest bright red and feathers with colors. He has also a particulary cry, the famous "cock-a-doodle-do". From 5 to 9 months (according to breeds), chucks lay even if there is no cocks. They can lay an egg per day or one every 2 days. Their eggs are ovums no fecundated. The egg can be fecundated only if there is a cock, and will give birth, after 21 days, to a chick.
