Did you know?
A voice that goes beyond the mountains
Check out those decibels ! Their cry can be heard more than five kilometers away! There’s a quite big laryngeal bag, like a resonance chamber, at neck level that enables it to make a louder sound. The chamber is not fur covered and rises up when the siamang makes noise.

The Gibbon father dotes on young
The siamang is monogamous; the female is dominant. This species has family ties that are even closer than other gibbons. The male, the female and the offspring develop at a distance of less than 10 meters from one another. The young animal doesn’t leave its mother until the age of 8 months. At that point, it begins to be carried by its father, who brings it back to the mother for nursing and sleeping.
