Did you know?
The name of a food lover, but more than just that
The French name for this species, « glouton (glutton) » refers to the animal’s voracity. It was a name given by the Indian Micmac tribe (one of Canada’s First Nations). Kwi'kwa'ju means « evil spirit ».
The wolverine is unusually successful at evading hunters. If it is caught, it tries all manner of solutions to escape. It has an impressive survival instinct.

A reputation to battle
In Canada, it’s known as the “most ferocious animal of the North.” The wolverine has an unjustifiably bad reputation, and is therefore little appreciated among men. It’s said that it kills more than it needs to eat and is ill tempered. However, in reality, it is quite playful and curious. Let’s fight this bad image!

Scientific name :
Gulon Gulo
Non-professionals often confuse it with a bear cub. It’s true that it looks both like a bear and a badger…its fur is dense and doesn’t retain water. This allows it to resist the extreme cold of its habitat. It is found at 2,500 meters in the mountains and it isn’t afraid of snow. Its long claws enable it to climb trees and dig. It’s also an excellent swimmer!
