The Park in 10 years

Why « Towards World Summits »?

We are based in a low mountainous region and the species on view at the Park reflect this strong identity. However, since the Park’s opening, we have always presented species from areas outside the European mountains. We want to respect the unique nature of the Park by continuing to present species from the entire world, that live on or near the world’s biggest mountains (Himalayas, Andes, Rocky Mountains, etc.)

What this implies concretely...

In keeping with this theme, we want to:

- enrich the collection of animals while reinforcing the Park’s role in conservation. In 2013, we are presenting 12 species that are part of a European reproduction program (EEP or ESB). Our goal is that eventually 1 out of 2 species presented in the Auvergne Animal Park will be part of these programs. What’s more, the choice of new species will reflect our positioning, « Towards World Summits »;

- emphasize the different mountainous regions from which the species come. On every sign, we list the mountain zone of origin in order to allow you to be aware of this theme, which is so important to us;

- develop a playful and instructional « nature » offer. We want to bring alive the link between man (and his children) and nature through fun, educational activities;

- renovate the grounds to make them more accessible and pleasant so that your climb, during your walk, is part of the pleasure of your adventure
